Is this Clinic a Primary Care Provider?
Arizona Acupuncture provides affordable acupuncture, not primary care medicine. We are not able to offer Western diagnoses health conditions of any kind, or screening for serious illnesses. We encourage all of our patients to have a relationship with a primary care provider, whether an MD, ND, nurse practitioner, or Physicians Assistant.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
While not completely understood by science, acupuncture is not mystical or magical. It is a medicine developed and improved empirically (that means by treating people, not lab mice) over thousands of years. Acupuncture is based on the premise that there are patterns of Qi (energy) flowing through the body that is essential for life. Qi pools into wells called "points" located along energy meridians that transverse the body. When needles are inserted into these points the technique used can trigger the Qi to either invigorate or to become soothed, and to stimulate the body's systems to restore energetic balance. Stagnation of energy can lead to pain, not only can acupuncture move the Qi and blood to treat the pain, it treats the imbalance (the root problem) causing the pain. Restoring the body's balance restores health and wellness.

Acupuncture treats the underlying cause (Root) to resolve the symptoms (Branches).
Is Acupuncture Accepted By Medical Doctors?
Acupuncture has steadily grown, with increased recognition by the U.S. medical system. For example, Acupuncture is now being practiced in many major Medical Hospitals in the United States. Acupuncture Today has an article on the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angles teaming with Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine to create an Intergrative medicine program for inpatients. Tony Bennalley L.Ac., one of Sheila's past graduate instructors, is an acupuncturist for Banner Medical, who now offers private and group setting acupuncture at the Banner Estrellia Medical Center. This is only a couple examples of a long list of medical facilities that now include acupuncture for treatment.
